“Training was rigorous but fun! I bonded with my cyclemates and many of us are still in contact. We look out for each other by fielding each other gigs and encouraging one another via group chat. The most difficult part was learning so much info in such a short span of time. Four weeks flew by so quickly!”
The “Made in NY” Production Assistant Training Program is here to help you access your potential in the television and film production industry. First, though, there are a few things you should know about the lifestyle of a Production Assistant. (We talk more about this in detail at our regularly scheduled information sessions.)
Applying is a highly competitive process. The following are our core eligibility requirements:
We will be unable to consider applicants that do not meet all the above eligibility requirements. Attend an info session to receive further information.
This program requires a 2-year commitment to developing your career in TV/film production. Please do not apply if you are employed full-time, enrolled in school, or plan to enroll in school in the next two years.
This program is specifically funded to help individuals from low-income backgrounds who do not have significant experience in or access to this industry. You are not eligible for this program if you have more than 2 years of paid media, radio, print, production, post-production, or theater experience. Similarly, you are not eligible if you have supervised production assistants (paid or unpaid) or if you have a Master’s or Doctorate degree.
Are you ready to work hard, gain industry experience, and make your mark? Attend an information session online to learn more about the program and fill out an application. Info sessions are held over zoom.
Our next training cycle begins in January 2025. Those interested in applying to our training cycle must attend a virtual Info Session. The application form will be provided at the end of the Info Session presentation.
A limited number of training spots are available per class. We accept applications year-round and hold classes 4 times a year. Attend an info session as soon as possible.
Application Follow-up Procedure
If you have already attended an “Made in NY” PA info session or if would like to check the status of your application, please email pa@bwiny.org and provide the following: date you applied, contact information, and driver’s license status. We thank you in advance for your patience!
