APPLY: ARE YOU READY TO START A CAREER IN COMMERCIAL DRIVING?

Red Hook on the Road can help you get qualified to start a new career in commercial driving, an industry with many opportunities in New York City.

CAREERS WITH A CLASS B/BPS LICENSE

Depending on the type of job you’re best suited for, it might require customer service skills, loading and unloading trucks, transporting the elderly, or driving children to and from school. Every job will require you to have a good understanding of your vehicle and the ability to navigate. Please note that training is for Class B/BPS licenses; we do not provide training for Class A (over the road) trucking licenses.

ELIGIBILITY

Applying to Red Hook on the Road is a competitive process, and there are some key eligibility requirements as well:

    • Live in New York City & be legally eligible to work in the U.S.
    • 21 years or older
    • Must have a valid NY State Driver’s License for at least two years and with one of the following three items (no combination of items A-C allowed):

      A) Four (4) points or fewer

      B) One (1) suspension (which has been cleared for at least two years)

      C) One (1) conviction showing on the driver record

 

  • Obtain and submit a driver record from the DMV that must be less than 30 days old
  • Able to attend training Monday – Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Must qualify as low income, under or unemployed, and/or receive public assistance
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • Absolutely no DWI’s or DUI’s
  • Individuals with a criminal record are encouraged to apply
