DECKHAND TRAINING FOR MARITIME CAREERS – NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS 

This FREE SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAM aims to connect New Yorkers to relevant credentials and career opportunities on the NYC Waterfront.

PARTICIPANTS WILL OBTAIN INSTRUCTION IN: 

• Knots & Rope Tying
• Vessel Parts & Systems
• Customer Service & Teamwork
• Intro to maps & Navigation
• Access to TWIC credentials

TRAINING DETAILS 

• Training starts November 9, 2026 
• Length of training – 4 weeks 
• Location: Brooklyn, NY 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

• NYC resident over 18 years of age; legally eligible for work in the U.S.
• Unemployed or Underemployed 
• High School Diploma / GED
• Must be available for the entire training schedule
• Able to attend in person training full-time
• Able to pass a full panel drug test (including Cannabis)
• Interest in working on the NYC waterfront
