The US solar energy market is booming and now is the time to learn the skills you will need to start a career in Solar Panel Installation.
Take this 6-week course and receive a stipend while you earn the industry certifications from North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), as well as a 4-hour Scaffolding Certification.
Learn practical skills in:
- Basic Carpentry
- Intro to Electrical Wiring
- Solar Panel Installation
- Construction Math
- Tool Usage
Minimum requirements: Must be at least 18 years old, a low-income Red Hook resident, eligible to work in the US legally, able to lift 50lbs, and able to score 8th grade level on a reading and math screening.

“Made in NY” PA Training Program’s Information Sessions are held Mondays at 1:00 p.m. at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in Building 92.

- Bring your driver’s license (if you have one) and your résumé.

NEW YORK DRIVES INFORMATION SESSION

New York Drives Information Sessions are from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Thursdays for anyone who would like to apply. All sessions held at the BWI Main Office where space is limited and people will be allowed to enter on a first-come, first-served basis. Try to arrive at least 15 minutes early as late-comers will not be admitted. Applicants ages 18 to 24 are strongly encouraged to apply.

BROOKLYN WOODS INFORMATION SESSION

Where: 125 8th Street, Brooklyn (2nd Floor)
Brooklyn Woods offers five cycles per year and recruits for the next training cycle on a rolling basis. This session is your last opportunity to apply for the training cycle that will run from January 10 – February 28, 2018. You do not need to pre-register to attend.
At the Information Session, you will fill out an application with your work history, get detailed information about the program, take a tour of the shop and take a reading, math and measurement test.
- Please bring a valid photo ID and a resume, if you have one.
- Please note that latecomers who arrive after 10 AM may not be admitted.
Brooklyn Woods is located at the BWI Sector Skills Center at 125 8th Street, between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue in Gowanus, Brooklyn.

Requirements
- No RSVP is required to attend an information session
- Arrive on-time: Latecomers will not be admitted

- 21+ years of age | 6 months NYC residency
- Strong computer skills
- 6 months experience in Production Industry as Office/Set PA
- 2 year commitment to working in Post Industry
BWI serves individuals from low-income backgrounds, who are unemployed or under-employed. We welcome all interested applicants to the “Made in NY” Post Production Training Program, and those who currently or recently experienced serious challenges finding or maintaining employment will be prioritized for enrollment.
