Red Hook on the Road graduates are skilled, credentialed and ready to drive buses or trucks for your business. We can provide you with multiple candidates for a single hire or meet your large-scale hiring needs.

PRE-SCREENED

Every Red Hook on the Road graduate has undergone a rigorous selection process and has a clean driver’s abstract. Our program has strict lateness and attendance policies, and we emphasize that being reliable and working hard are the best ways to succeed in a new career. We choose individuals who demonstrate outstanding motivation, commitment and financial need.

TRAINED

Each RHOR graduate receives at least 20 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction and an additional 20 hours of direct observation. RHOR trains graduates in map reading, maneuvering in emergency situations and inclement weather. All graduates complete the NYS Automobile Point Insurance Reduction Program (i.e. defensive driving). Finally, RHOR students train in customer service and soft skills such as communicating with supervisors.

CDL CERTIFIED

Red Hook on the Road graduates hold Class BPS New York State commercial driver’s licenses (we do not train for the Class A CDL).  RHOR prepares graduates to drive all of Class B/BPS commercial vehicles. Graduates train to drive in the variety of conditions faced by New York City drivers.
